Counselling:
If you have experienced counselling before, then you may have insight into what it entails and perhaps have formed expectations of what a good therapeutic experience might include. If not, then you may be asking what counselling is and what you could expect from it.
Counselling involves talking therapy, featuring a professional therapeutic relationship between Counselling Practitioner and client; the exact purpose and characteristics of which will be agreed upon during an initial session.
Within a therapeutic relationship, I would offer you safe, confidential, non–judgemental and intuitive engagement, supporting you through the challenging process of unpacking and re–evaluating painful events, relationships and / or situations whose impact remains detrimental in the present.
Nobody can change the past, but I do believe that within a deeply empathic, nurturing environment it is possible to reconsider perspectives about the past and by developing effective coping mechanisms and self–awareness, embrace the future with greater confidence.
Investing the time and effort to examine beliefs, attitudes and behaviours held can be incredibly rewarding and affirming.
